The Chocolate Swimming Pool on left was done in 1" x 1" ceramic tiles. Over 110,000 ceramic tiles were used in the construction of this 13' x 26' pool. It still looks new.

The issue with pools and patios relate to water and, in the colder climates, freeze stable tile. Most sunrooms are not exposed to the elements so these issues are not important. A sunroom tile does not have to be freeze resistant even if the room gets below freezing as long as the tile is not exposed to the weather. Without being wet the tile will not be affected by temperature.

Obviously pools and patios are exposed to the elements so that the tile either needs to be a quarry tile or a porcelain tile that is rated to be freeze stable. As to slipperiness, we even now have porcelain tiles that are truly slip resistant in wet environments. We have used these tiles quite successfully on exterior entries, steps and exposed patios. In the last few years we have only installed tile that will be exposed to the weather utilizing a water proof expansion membrane under the tile to assist in keeping it viable in the ever changing weather conditions.
